Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Orvella Ltd, doing business as Orvella ("we", "us", "Orvella"). Orvella Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17386927) at Suite A, 82 James Carter Road, Mildenhall, IP28 7DE, United Kingdom.
We operate the Orvella mobile application for iOS and Android, and the related website at https://www.orvellaapp.com (together, the "Services"). By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Orvella.
We will update this page when these terms change, and the date above will change. For significant changes, we will also notify you in the app. Continued use after updated terms are posted means you accept them. If you do not agree, stop using Orvella and delete your account.
Important: what Orvella is - and is not
Orvella is a private symptom record for people with endometriosis who are diagnosed, suspected, or investigating. It helps you record and reflect on your own health information and build a structured, self-recorded report to take to appointments. Some features are available on a free tier. Some require a paid subscription sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Orvella is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, predict, prevent, monitor for clinical purposes, treat, or give advice about any medical condition, and nothing in the app is medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional about your health, and never disregard or delay professional advice because of something in Orvella. If you have a medical emergency, contact the emergency services (999 in the UK) immediately.
1. Who can use Orvella
You must be at least 16 years old to use Orvella. Orvella is not available to anyone under 16. If you are under 18, you confirm that you understand these terms.
Use Orvella only for your own personal health record-keeping. Do not use it for anyone else, and do not share, sell, or give access to your account.
2. Your account
You may need to register to use the Services. You can sign in with email, or with Apple, Google, or Facebook. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity that happens under your account. Please give accurate information when you sign up, and let us know if you think someone else has accessed your account.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse Orvella. That includes trying to break its security, disrupt the service, reverse-engineer it except as the law allows, scrape it, impersonate someone else, or use it for anything unlawful.
You also agree not to:
- use the Services to advertise or offer to sell goods and services
- sell or transfer your profile
- use the Services to diagnose, treat, triage, or give medical advice to yourself or anyone else
- upload or store another person's health information unless you have the legal right to do so
- use the Services as a medical device, or rely on them instead of a qualified clinician
4. Subscriptions, billing and the free tier
Orvella has a permanently free tier that includes unlimited logging, your full history, and a genuinely useful report. Some features require a paid Premium subscription.
Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are billed by Apple or Google, not by Orvella. They renew automatically unless you cancel. Payment, renewals, refunds, and cancellations are handled by Apple or Google under their terms. We do not receive or store your card details.
To cancel, open Orvella, go to Me, then Your plan, and tap Manage subscription. That opens the App Store or Play Store subscription settings for your device. You can also cancel directly in those store settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Premium until the end of the current billing period.
Deleting your Orvella account does not cancel a store subscription. You must cancel in the App Store or Google Play to stop future charges.
If we change a subscription price, we will communicate that as the law requires. Store prices and any current offer are shown in the App Store or Play Store at the time of purchase.
5. Community insights
Orvella may show insights drawn from community research. These describe what people say they have experienced. They are not medical advice, endorsements, or recommendations, and popularity is not evidence that something works. Always speak to a healthcare professional before acting on anything you read.
6. Your records
The health information, notes, photos, and documents you enter belong to you. They are stored for your account only. They are not published, shown to other users, or treated as public contributions.
You grant us only the limited permission needed to store and process that information so we can provide the app to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You can export or permanently delete your data at any time.
If you send us product feedback, ideas, or support messages, you agree that we may use those comments to operate and improve Orvella. That does not give us ownership of your health records.
Please keep your own copies of anything important to you. The export feature is there for this. We take care of your data, but no system can guarantee that nothing will ever be lost.
7. Our intellectual property
Orvella, including its name, design, software, and content we create, belongs to us. These terms give you a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, and to use the website, only as these terms allow. They do not give you any other rights in Orvella.
You may not copy, reverse-engineer (except as the law allows), resell, or use Orvella to build a competing product. If you want permission for any other use, email support@orvellaapp.com.
8. Social sign-in
If you sign in with Apple, Google, or Facebook, we receive the profile information that provider shares with us, usually your name and email address. We use that only to create and secure your account, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not ask for your social-media password. Your use of Apple, Google, or Facebook is governed by their terms, not these ones.
9. Third-party websites and content
The Services may link to websites and content we do not own, including Instagram, Endometriosis UK, the App Store, Google Play, and device settings such as Apple Health. Those sites have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for them. If you follow a link away from Orvella, these terms no longer govern that other site.
10. Privacy
How we collect, store, and use personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy. By using Orvella you also agree to that policy. Your records are stored in the United Kingdom.
11. Copyright
If you believe material stored or shown through the Services infringes a copyright you own or control, email support@orvellaapp.com with enough detail for us to find the material. Do not send a notice unless you have a genuine basis for it.
12. Availability
We work to keep Orvella running well, but we cannot guarantee it will always be available or error-free. We may update, change, interrupt, or withdraw features. We are not liable for downtime or for a feature you expected us to ship.
13. Disclaimers and our liability
Orvella is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties. We are not liable for any decision you make about your health. Those decisions should always be made with a qualified healthcare professional.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under English law. Subject to that, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the Services is limited to the amount you have paid us for the Services, if any.
If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.
14. Ending these terms
You can stop using Orvella and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription.
We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, or if we discontinue the Services. If we end your access because of a breach, you should not create a new account to get around that.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will change the date at the top of this page. For significant changes we will also let you know in the app.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. Disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales. If you are an EU consumer, you also have the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in those courts as well.
The European Commission publishes information on consumer redress, including dispute-resolution bodies by country.
17. Apple App Store and Google Play
The following applies where you download Orvella from the Apple App Store or Google Play:
- These terms are between you and us only, not with Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for Orvella or its content.
- Your licence to use Orvella is limited to use on devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store or Google Play terms.
- We, not Apple or Google, are solely responsible for Orvella and for providing any maintenance and support for it. Apple and Google have no obligation to provide support.
- If Orvella fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple or Google, and they may refund the purchase price (if any) in accordance with their terms. To the maximum extent permitted by law, they have no other warranty obligation for the app.
- We, not Apple or Google, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to Orvella, including product liability, legal or regulatory claims, and claims that the app infringes someone's rights.
- You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and Google and their subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these store terms and may enforce them against you.
- Your contact for questions, complaints or claims about Orvella is support@orvellaapp.com or our Support form.
